HIA of Middleton, MA Introduction Middleton is a rural, 14 square mile, town located in the Essex County of Massachusetts. Its population is 8,987 people as of 2000; 18.6% of Middleton’s population is 60 and over. 54% of the land is forestry and wetlands. Only 18% is residential, 1% commercial, 1 public area, and the rest is mainly 3% cropland and 4% pasture. There are no public transportation or bike lanes within the town of Middleton.
